A quick word about material compositions:

These types of shingles are widely available in a many different styles and warranty levels. No asphalt shingle is warrantied against moss, but algae resistant versions are sometimes available.

B&J Roofing installs top quality cedar shakes and shingles cut from old growth cedar. Premium shakes, 100% vertical grain in 1/2" 'medium' and 3/4" 'heavy' are readily available from our supplier. Pressure treated shakes and shingles are also available with treatment warranties of up to 50 years.
If you choose to use GAF Green Roof components, they've been noted to help conserve scarce, natural resources, maximize the use of recycled materials, and reduce energy use. Through GAF you can choose from 3 different, main styles: the most basic 3-Tab Shingles, Timberline architectural shingles, and Designer lifetime shingles.
